President's Letter
Well the weather is finally starting to cool down and I don’t know about you but I am excited to have the cooler weather. I would like to take a moment to thank all the sponsors who helped with the CHFM training that we hosted at Integris Cancer Center and the Integris organization who has been so helpful and willing to provide their wonderful meeting spaces for our organization. We had a great training class and we gained several CHFM certified folks from that class. CONGRATULATION to all who passed their CHFM!

Next week, November 2nd, is our next meeting. We will be meeting at the OHA Convention again this year. Our training will be Thursday morning, we have three wonderful presentations for you as well as a business meeting to discuss and nominate a new board member and vendor program chair. If you are interested in being on the board please plan to attend.

Our meeting next Spring will be April 18 – 20. Once again, our dear friends from Integris have stepped up in a huge way to get us the auditorium at Baptist Medical Center. Thank you again for your help! We will have our tradeshow setup and a membership get together on Wednesday evening. Thursday, we will have different speakers providing some dynamite training sessions. On Friday, we are going to partner up with the OK-EPIC organization and host Janet E. Stout, PhD, Special Pathogens Laboratory, for a one day education and training event. Dr. Stout is a clinical and environmental microbiologist who is recognized worldwide for more than 30 years of pioneering research in Legionella. As an advocate for prevention, Dr. Stout was instrumental in developing the first U.S. prevention strategy for hospital-acquired Legionnaires’ disease in 1993. This event will be a first for OAHE and hopefully it will help us branch out to other parts of the healthcare space. We will also be bringing back the horse racing on Thursday night! I know that is a big event for everyone and I know a lot of people, including myself, missed that this past conference.

November 2nd will be my last day as the OAHE President. After our meeting at the OHA I will move into the Past President spot and Mr. Gulick will become our OAHE President. I want to say thank you for allowing me to be able to represent the OAHE this past year. I know that it has been a bit of a change with having a vendor member as president but I feel that it went well and I am so grateful that you allowed me to have this opportunity!

Thank you,

Scott Johnson, CHC, CET
2017 OAHE President
Director of Healthcare Solutions

Energy To Care Update
The OAHE is excited to announce that our chapter is participating in ASHE’s 2017 Chapter Energy Challenge. The OAHE now has a total of 11 facilities that are entering their facility information into Portfolio Manager and sharing that data with ASHE’s Energy to Care (E2C) website. Tracking our facilities energy consumption is a great opportunity to show the value of our efforts as facilities managers to the leadership of our organizations. Energy reduction equates to monies saved which has a direct impact on our facilities financial health.

Our fall meeting, November 2 in OKC will focus on Sustainability. Different programs and opportunities will be discussed during the morning session that should provide you with ideas on how your facility can reduce the energy consumed. We will also discuss the how your organizations can participate in ASHE’s E2C program.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Conference.
